The struck line

You are following the Slow Read, which begins with the Prologue on Saturday 10 October and reads a chapter a week. Read ahead? Choose the last chapter you have finished. The site hides anything from a chapter you have not reached; this is proof of reading, never of buying, and a library copy counts.

A struck line can still be read, but it is never to be given again. In the Code, striking is grammar.

This part draws on Ch 7. It shows when your spoiler level reaches it.

kha
kha: the hook, struck through.

One hard line through a sign, a word or a whole line voids it. Read aloud, the strike is kha, said after the thing struck. Struck words stay legible: the ledger keeps what it voids.

kha also makes words. Added to the end of a word it means struck from it, like un- or -less in English: so (list) and kha make sokha, unlisted; kho (chain) and kha make khokha, free.

sokhakhokha
sokha (unlisted) and khokha (free).

Ka me kha

kept and struck

Kept, and not kept.

Seven is khi, the struck hook with two dots, and a full row of seven is closed by striking it through.
