About this fiction

Last updated

Dreamscape Code is a novel by Nima Golsharifi, published by Tingle Press. Much of this site is part of its fiction. This page is not: everything on it is plain fact.

What is real

  • The novel Dreamscape Code, written by Nima Golsharifi and published on 10 October 2026.
  • Its author, Nima Golsharifi.
  • Tingle Press, the publisher, based in London (tingle.press).
  • This website, the people who run it, and anything you choose to pay for here (see Support the site).
  • The help lines on Safety and help.

What is not real

  • DREAM, the Bureau, the In-Between Hotel and its agents, and every form, permit, register and seal log on this site are fiction.
  • Earth numbers, like V.24499, are part of a game. They do not stand for real alternate Earths, and they say nothing about you. They never rank anyone.
  • Nothing on this site refers to a real government, agency, organisation, living person, event or conspiracy. If something seems to, that is a mistake: please tell us at hello@dreamscapecode.com.
  • The Code’s script (Sotak) and its language (Somka) were invented for the novel. You can really learn them, but they carry no hidden, spiritual or predictive meaning.

How to tell which is which

Every page in the story carries a small brass bell in the top corner and, at the foot, the line “Dreamscape Code is a novel by Nima Golsharifi. This site is part of its fiction. Published by Tingle Press.” The bell always brings you here.

Anything about money, your data, consent, safety or moderation is always written plainly, outside the story, like this page.

The Bureau never messages you first. Nobody from this site will send you a direct message, phone you, or ask you for money or personal details in character. If someone does, it is not us.

What is not finished yet

So that there is something to read now, some of the story’s records, lessons and nightly lines (the Archive and the Bestiary, the Atlas, the Library, the Orb Files, the Code’s lessons, the Seal Log and others) are shown before the author has checked them. Each carries the label “Provisional: not yet checked by the author”, and the label comes off when he approves the text. The in-world writing around them (page introductions, the Hotel’s floors, the games, the Dining Room’s tables, the Code’s phrases) is not all checked yet either; it does not carry the label on every line.

Lines quoted from the novel are always the novel’s own words, checked against the book.

The author records his own readings. Until a recording exists, you will see a transcript.

Where the Code came from

The signs of the Code came first: they were drawn as ornament for the book’s cover. The language was built afterwards to fit them, ten days before publication. The dated log of how that was done is The Making of Somka.

The Sealed Answer

The novel leaves some questions open on purpose. The author will write down his answers to three of them, and a solicitor will seal them. We will publish a fingerprint of the sealed text here (its SHA-256 hash), so anyone can later check that the answers were not changed.

Show the three questions (they hint at events late in the novel)

1. Is Morana killed, or taken?

2. What did Tom score out?

3. Who is the porter?

The hash will be published here once the answers are sealed. On the day the next novel is published, the sealed text will be released for anyone to check against it. If the author ever changes his mind, he will say so on this page, with the date.

SHA-256 of the Sealed Answer
Not published yet.

The Sealed Answer is a plain hash of a text. It is not a token, a prize or anything you can buy.
