The Precepts

How far have you read?

Choose chapter

You are following the Slow Read, which begins with the Prologue on Saturday 10 October and reads a chapter a week. Read ahead? Choose the last chapter you have finished. The site hides anything from a chapter you have not reached; this is proof of reading, never of buying, and a library copy counts.

Twenty-two lines from the book, under four that hang over the door. Some are spoken by people who were wrong, or worse. They are here on purpose: the argument, not the answer.

The Lintel

4 lines open as you read: 1 at Ch 14, 2 at Ch 16, 1 at Ch 19. The Slow Read reaches Ch 14 on Saturday 16 January. Read ahead? Tell us the last chapter you finished.
